We are excited to introduce the remarkable works of Teresa Durán Sandoval, a distinguished Mexican ceramist from Moyahua, Zacatecas. Teresa's journey in ceramics has taken her across the globe, developing her craft in the United States, Canada, and Italy. Her unique style is deeply rooted in her early life in Moyahua, where the vibrant flowers of her hometown inspire her signature designs.
Teresa’s career began in Guadalajara, where she studied chemical sciences, gaining invaluable knowledge about ceramics and high-temperature techniques. Since 1993, she has been creating stunning pieces using the ancient Japanese raku technique. Her extensive experience includes working with renowned artisans like Arthur Kent and Jorge Wilmot, who mentored her in ceramic glazes and high-temperature ceramics.
Teresa has not only excelled in ceramics but also in creating impactful ceramic murals. Her notable works include contributions to the Guadalajara Light Rail stations and the mural "El Nuevo Cielo" at the Centro Municipal de la Cultura de Zapopan, designed by Javier Arévalo.
Her pieces are part of prestigious collections, including the Museo Nacional de la Cerámica Jorge Wilmot and the Museo de la Cerámica in Castelli, Italy. Teresa Durán Sandoval's ceramics are a blend of tradition and innovation, making them a perfect addition to any art collection.
